This is one of the better bread machine mixes out there. Hodgson Mill has managed to provide us with some very fine products that don't contain a bunch of preservatives and great tasting loaves of bread. They are one of the only ones that recommend using the whole wheat cycle for a box mix, and it works well. This may be the reason that some reviewer wound up with a bad loaf. Funny thing is, the first time I used it, I neglected to read the instructions and used the basic white setting on my bread machine and it still turned out pretty good. I'll be ordering this mix on a regular basis. We especially like adding flax seed, rosemary, oregano and minced onion. Bread is a little pricey but so worth it. Fresh and natural with no preservatives.

I just started using this bread mix for my bread machine a few months ago, and bought this and the Honey Wheat flavor on Amazon. This is a perfect (and economical) solution for me, as I make about a loaf a week. The flavor and texture of this white bread is excellent. It slices well, and lasts almost a week without refrigeration. It bakes up with a marvelous crust in my machine, an older Panasonic BT55-P. Simple to use, and saves a lot of work over manual baking. I use either unsalted butter or canola oil; margarine does not seem to work as well or taste as good. The only issue with the White Bread Mix is excessive rising. I've solved that by using the 1-pound-loaf-machine formula, rather than the entire (1.5-pound-loaf-machine) box. My machine IS a 1.5 pounder, but this white mix is EAGER. I tried using a tad less than the full packet of yeast with the entire box of mix, but the bread still got huge and stuck to the inside of the lid upon baking. Bread Machine Mix Product
You can either throw out the excess mix, save it up and make a full loaf when you have enough remainders, or run the dough cycle and finish the baking in the oven in a proper bread pan. I have only had the excess rising issue with the low carb white bread mix. The Honey Wheat variety is even more delicious than the white, but does not slice quite as well. It's a tad crumbly, and maybe a bit softer: excellent for sandwiches. Both make superb french toast. Also tried the 9-grain, which is a somewhat denser bread, and again has simply marvelous flavor.

Oh, the smell of this bread. Yes, it tastes just as good. This is called a cheese and herb bulk bread mix, but you will mostly notice the herbs. That's fine with me because this is a delicious blend. I am not a sandwich person, prefer hot food, but I made a sandwich with this bread using ham, salami, mayo, and some shredded Italian cheese.
